The present invention relates to a composition and a health functional food for improving or enhancing memory, comprising a puffed red ginseng extract, a Chinese matrimony vine extract, and a Cornus officinalis extract as active ingredients. The extract of puffed red ginseng according to the present invention has an excellent effect of nerve cell protection activity as compared with a general red ginseng extract, and the composition of the present invention containing the puffed red ginseng extract as an active ingredient can be useful for improving or enhancing memory. In particular, a composition in which a Chinese matrimony vine extract and a Cornus officinalis extract are mixed in a specific ratio in a puffed red ginseng extract, has a remarkably excellent neuronal cell protective activity, and the optimal mixing ratio has a significant effect.
