According to an embodiment of the present invention, provided is a camera system and a driving assistance system using the same. The camera system for a vehicle comprises: a lens for photographing a front side of a vehicle; a lens barrel for accommodating the lens in an internal space thereof; a lens holder coupled to the lens barrel; an image sensor for sensing an image photographed by the lens; an image processor for receiving and processing image data from the image sensor; and a camera MCU for receiving the data processed by the image processor by communicating with the image processor. The driving assistance system comprises: an electronic control unit (ECU) for determining the risk of collision with a nearby vehicle based on the state of a user′s vehicle at an intersection; a rear radar which is installed in the user′s vehicle and recognizes the nearby vehicle; and a driver warning controller for warning the risk of collision between the user′s vehicle and the nearby vehicle based on a collision risk determination result of the ECU, wherein the camera system recognizes a signal of a traffic light in front of the user′s vehicle and transmits the signal to the ECU.
