A subject of the present invention is a novel process for the preparation of a carboproprotromethane salt, wherein the alkylation of general formula (II) is carried out with a Grignard reagent in the presence of a chiral auxiliary in an aprotic solvent. The methyl ester epimers of formula (VII) are separated by gravity silica gel chromatography and salt formation is carried out using solid tromethamine bases. RTI ID = 0.0 & (VII)
