The present invention discloses a titanium alloy having excellent mechanical properties, and a method for producing the same. A method of manufacturing a titanium alloy according to the present invention includes: (a) producing an alloy base material containing 3.0 to 5.0 wt% of aluminum (Al), 3.0 to 6.0% of iron (Fe), and the remaining of titanium (Ti) and inevitable impurities; (b) subjecting the alloy base material to a first heat treatment at 700 to 900°C so as to form a 1α-phase structure and a β-phase structure; and (c) cooling a resultant product and subjecting the resultant product to a second heat treatment at 500 to 600°C so as to form a 2α-phase structure, and precipitating a TiFe intermetallic compound at an interface of the 2α-phase structure.
