An apparatus for stitching depth maps for stereo images comprises a camera calibration unit for correcting physical properties of a plurality of stereo cameras; a depth map generation unit for receiving the stereo images from the stereo cameras to generate depth maps; a depth map adjustment unit for adjusting each of the depth maps in a virtual space; and a depth map stitching unit for determining the object based on a segment existing in each of the depth maps, and then calculating the depth of the determined object to stitch the depth maps. Therefore, the apparatus for stitching depth maps for stereo images can perform matching between segments appearing in an area where depth maps overlap with each other, detect an overlapping shape of the matched segments, and integrate the matched segments into a segment having a single depth value according to the detected overlapping shape.
