An acoustooptic device in which the diffraction angle range of output light is increased by using a nanostructured medium and an optical scanner, an optical modulator and a holographic display device using the same are disclosed. The disclosed acousto-optic element may comprise a nanostructure of at least two different media arranged alternately, of which at least one medium is an acoustooptic medium. According to the embodiment of the present invention, the acoustooptic device having the above-described structure can further increase the diffraction angle range of the output light. Thus, various systems such as optical scanners, optical modulators, 2D / 3D display devices, holographic display devices, etc. using the disclosed acousto-optic elements may not require a separate optical system to widen the operating angle range. As a result, the overall system size can be further miniaturized, and resolution constraints can be improved.
