According to the present invention, disclosed are a device for calculating a characteristic factor of a HALO coronal mass ejection (CME) and a method thereof. The present invention extracts a CME form based on a running difference (RDIFF) image calculated through a corona graph of a SOHO satellite, calculates a primary parameter of a HALO CME from the extracted CME form, confirms a correlation between the primary parameters of the HALO CME calculated from a continuous image, and calculates a HALO CME three-dimensional characteristic factor based on the confirmed correlation between the primary parameters of the HALO CME calculated from the continuous image, thereby providing reliable data. Moreover, the present invention can improve accuracy in calculating a prediction time for the HALO CME to reach the earth by using the calculated HALO CME three-dimensional characteristic factor as an input value of an ENLIL-Cone model. The device for calculating a characteristic factor of a HALO CME comprises: a communication part; and a control part.
