FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to microwave technology, in particular to X-band active phased array antennas (APAA) located in the fore body of the aircraft or helicopter. Invention can be applied in the development of perspective airborne (aircraft or helicopter) X-band radars with wide-angle electric scanning in the azimuth plane, and also used in the development of APAA for other radars with wide-angle electric scanning in the azimuth plane operating in the X-, Ku-, K-, and Ka-bands. Proposed APAA consists of two APAAs, each of which consists of a radiating web in the form of N radiators, forming a flat radiating opening with a size of L_x*L_y, and N_m transceiver modules (TM) connected in the “each TM to each radiator” circuit and providing electrical scanning in the azimuth plane in the sector of angles ±ϕ_sc and in the elevation plane in the sector of angles ±θ_sc, so that the total number of radiators in both APAAs is 2N, and the number of TMs N_m=N.;EFFECT: technical result is the possibility of expanding the sector of electric scanning of scanning angles with a reduction in the number of used TMs by half and a decrease in the cost and weight of APAA.;7 cl, 12 dwg
