FIELD: motors and pumps.;SUBSTANCE: engine valve deactivation system is configured for an engine containing two or more cylinders (C1), (C2), (C3). Each cylinder (C1), (C2), (C3) has two exhaust valves (E1)-(E6) and two inlet valves (I1)-(I6). At least one cylinder of the engine is deactivatable at a same time that a remaining cylinders is normally operated. Each of the cylinders has one inlet valve selectively deactivated via a first supply of pressurized fluid. Each deactivatable cylinder further has both exhaust valves and the other one of the inlet valves selectively deactivated via a second supply of pressurized fluid.
