A cooling system for thermally conditioning a component includes a heat spreader configured to provide a cold side. An insulating plate is disposed adjacent to the heat spreader. A thermoelectric device is disposed within the insulating plate and is thermally operatively applied to a side of the insulating plate opposite to the heat spreader. Adjacent to the insulating plate is a cooling plate assembly which is in operative engagement with the thermoelectric device.
