MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT PLANNING AND DISPOSAL

A multimodal transport system and method is provided in which a dispatching service (SS) generates an initial transportation schedule (TS) that includes a list of transportation sections in which transportation via one or more transportation sections by means of an autonomous vehicle (AV) from an initially scheduled service Pickup Point (ISPUL) at an initial scheduled pickup time (ISPUT). The SS monitors all changes to the initial TS and updates the initial TS based on the changes to generate a current TS that includes a currently scheduled pickup time (CSPUT) and a currently scheduled pickup location (CSPUL) for the travel route. The CSPUT / CSPUL may be the same or different than the ISPUT / ISPUL, depending on whether or not there have been changes to the ISPUT / ISPUL. An AV can be selected from the fleet of AVs and automatically controlled to drive to the CSPUL and pick up the passenger from the CSPUT.
