The invention relates to a method of simulating the behavior of an iterative and incremental finite element computing structure, in which a global model representing said structure is used, a local model representing a zone of said structure comprising geometric details, a model auxiliary method representing the same said zone without said geometrical details, said method comprising the following steps: a) applying a loading to the global model; b) determination by finite element calculation in the overall model of a field of nodal displacements corresponding to this loading; c) application of the nodal displacement field thus determined to the local and auxiliary models and determination of corresponding efforts in said models; d) testing the convergence of the solution obtained for the global model, and if a convergence indicator is reached, the processing is resumed in step a) with a loading increment; otherwise, e) calculating a correction from the difference between the forces thus determined in the local model and in the auxiliary model and applying this correction in the overall model, the processing is resumed in step c) with a field of nodal displacements calculated in the global model after implementation of said correction; the calculations thus made in the global model and in the local model providing, for the different loading increments, values of internal variables making it possible to evaluate the evolution of the behavior of the structure over time as a function of this loading.
