A medical safety needle (1) comprising a needle body (15) having a needlepoint (P), a covering body (9) having a detent portion (47) slidable on the needle body (15) to catch the needlepoint (P) so as to cover the needlepoint, and a resilient cantilever (31) supporting the detent portion (47), a collar portion (13) slidably fitting on the covering body (9), the covering body (9) being configured to slide in the collar portion (13) while the needlepoint (P) is covered by the covering body (9), the collar portion being configured to get in contact with the cantilever (31) to press the cantilever (31) radially inwardly; and a housing (11) being configured to carry the covering body (9) from a first position to have the needlepoint (P) exposed to a second position to have the needlepoint (P) covered by the covering body (15).
