The invention provides a simple, easy to carry out, inexpensive and above all reliable method for the detection of colistin-resistant Gram-negative bacteria in a biological sample, with which it is possible to distinguish between sensitive and resistant isolates. The method can also be used in high throughput in clinical diagnostics and food diagnostics. It improves the established methods for the determination of colistin resistance according to the guidelines of the EUCAST / CLSI Panel.
