METHOD FOR CASTING ALUMINUM ALLOY BY DC CASTING AND ALUMINUM ALLOY INGOT

To provide a method for casting an aluminum alloy ingot by DC casting that can stably manufacture a large-sized aluminum alloy ingot uniform in ingredients and excellent in internal quality.SOLUTION: A method for casting an aluminum alloy by DC casting includes ejecting molten metal from a molten metal distributor arranged to be positioned above the molten metal in a mold and casting an aluminum alloy ingot while supplying molten metal into the mold. A moving magnetic field is applied to an outer surface of the aluminum alloy ingot generally in parallel with a direction of ejecting molten metal from the molten metal distributor such that upward electromagnetic force is generated in an inner sump of an aluminum alloy ingot drawn out of the mold. Thus, thrusting flow and rotational flow possibly constituting a generation factor of macro negative segregation are inhibited by generating upward electromagnetic force.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
