PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately calculating the friction coefficient μ1out between an outer rail side wheel 11 of a front wheel set 1a of a carriage 100 and an outer rail R1.;SOLUTION: The present invention is a method for calculating a friction coefficient μ1out in a curved section. An inner track derailment coefficient κ (=lateral pressure Q1in/wheel weight P1in), a front tangential force index Ta (=tangential force T1in/wheel weight P1in), and a rear tangential force index Tb (=(tangential force T2out/wheel weight P2out+tangential force T2in/wheel weight P2in)/2) are input based on the results of performing motion analysis using friction coefficients μ1out, μ1in, μ2out, and μ2in as variables between the four wheels of a carriage and a rail in an analysis model of a railway vehicle. Thus, the input-output relation which outputs the friction coefficient μ1out is identified. The friction coefficient μ1out is calculated as the output by using the inner track derailment coefficient κ, the front tangential force index Ta, and the rear tangential force index Tb, which are measured when the railway vehicle travels the curved section, as the input for the input-output relation.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2019,JPO&INPIT
