To provide a calibration value generation system and the like capable of highly accurately calibrating detection position data even when an encoder is inexpensive and low accuracy.SOLUTION: A calibration value generation system comprises scales 11 and 21 having a detected pattern, detection sensors 13 and 23 which output a detection signal according to the detected pattern, a calibration encoder 10 including a position calculator 14 for calculating a positional relationship between the scale 11 and the detection sensor 13, and a master encoder 20 including a position calculator 24 for calculating a positional relationship between the scale 21 and the detection sensor 23. The system generates a calibration value of position detection data of the calibration encoder 10 on the basis of detection position data of the master encoder 20. The master encoder 20 has higher accuracy and resolutions than the calibration encoder 10. The position calculator 14 outputs a timing signal per prescribed position interval. A calibration value generation unit 25 compares position data according to the timing signal from the position calculator 14 with position data obtained from the position calculator 24 when the timing signal is output, and generates a calibration value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
