To provide a method of screening for compounds that modulate expression of specific macromolecules, or "targets."SOLUTION: A method of screening for compounds that modulate expression of specific macromolecules, or "targets," is particularly useful in that the method does not require separation of target-bound ligand and excess ligand and therefore enables, but is not limited to, high-throughput screening for compounds that increase or decrease expression levels or cellular levels of a target. The method can also be used for high-throughput diagnosis of a condition leading to an increase or decrease of a cellular macromolecule.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
