To provide a dense sintered body of spinel type lithium titanate.SOLUTION: As a result of extensive investigations, the present inventors have found that ramsdellite lithium titanate can be phase-changed to spinel type lithium titanate by staying for 2 hours or more in a temperature range of 400 to 1000°C. Utilizing this fact, after obtaining a dense sintered body containing ramsdellite type lithium titanate by sintering at a high temperature, a dense sintered body of spinel type lithium titanate can be obtained by phase change of ramsdellite type lithium titanate to spinel type lithium titanate.SELECTED DRAWING: None
