PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable sol capable of forming a coating film that is hardly reduced by aluminum and does not undergo phase change, even when heated to an elevated temperature, and a method for manufacturing the sol.;SOLUTION: The spinel precursor sol comprises colloid particles of a reaction product of an aluminum alkoxide hydrolysate and magnesium ion that are dispersed in an aqueous solvent with a pH of 1-5 and forms a spinel at 300-400°C. The method for manufacturing the same comprises; adding an aluminum alkoxide to an aqueous solution of a magnesium salt, without dissolving the aluminum alkoxide in an organic solvent, and hydrolyzing the same at 80-95°C; and deflocculating the resulting reaction product of the aluminum alkoxide hydrolysate and a magnesium ion by adjusting the pH of the aqueous solvent to 1-5.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
