A tool for skiving a rotating workpiece with previously processed teeth, a gear-shaped main body and a tooth-shaped cutting insert ( 1.2). Each cutting insert comprises at least one cutting tooth. The cutting teeth form a cutting edge (6) extending along at least one of the tooth surfaces of the cutting teeth, a rake face and a flank face. The rake face is provided with a rake chamfer (7) along the cutting edge, which extends so as to be inclined with respect to the rake face (5.5) by a chamfer angle.
