The tool (4) has a tool spindle (1) arranged such that vertical and horizontal processing of a workpiece (5) is pivotable in a processing range up to 110 degrees from vertical axis starting in various directions. A connection between the tool spindle and a tool receiver makes a change of rotation direction of the tool. The workpiece is clamped between two tailstocks (9) with mechanically adjusted tension value. A machining process on the work piece is controlled via a measuring sensor. The tool spindle is provided with a grinding wheel in a horizontal position in front of a tool magazine (8). An independent claim is also included for a method for scale profiling a workpiece by precision machine tool.
