PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protector that in a power supply system using a converter, is capable of protecting the whole system by detecting a short circuit accident on a distribution line, and a system comprising the same.SOLUTION: A protector 100 comprises: a harmonics supply unit 102 for supplying a bus with harmonics (harmonics of integral order or inter-order harmonics); a voltage measurement unit 104 for measuring voltage of the bus; a current measurement unit 108 for measuring current of a distribution line; a harmonic component calculation unit 110 for calculating a harmonic component from each of voltage and current measurement waveforms; an impedance calculation unit 112 for calculating impedance from voltage and current harmonic components; and a control unit 114 for determining, on the basis of the calculated impedance, whether or not a short-circuit accident has occurred on the distribution line. Thereby, the short-circuit accident having occurred on the distribution line is detected, enabling separation of the distribution line from the bus and prevention of outage of the whole system.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
