PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce COD present in a treated liquid and to prevent the amount of generated sediment from increasing upon treating effluent containing an organic salt and a sulfate.;SOLUTION: There is provided a method of treating effluent containing an organic salt and a sulfate, comprising an adjustment process S11 of adjusting the amount of a metallic ion being added into the effluent according to the concentration of a sulfate ion and an organic acid ion contained therein while forming a sparingly soluble metallic salt, and a separation process S12 of separating the sparingly insoluble metallic salt formed in the adjustment process, characterized in that the amount of the metallic ion to be added in the adjustment process is adjusted in a range of 0.2 to 0.7 molar equivalents relative to the total sum of the sulfate ion and the organic acid ion contained in the effluent.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2019,JPO&INPIT
