PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a twin type vertical casting device which can suppress contamination of a foreign matter, which is generated from a side dam plate, into a casting.SOLUTION: A twin type vertical casting apparatus comprises: a pair of casting rolls 12, 13 which are so located as to face each other with a prescribed roll gap 13, are rotated at a same peripheral speed and are elastically energized in a relatively approaching direction; a pair of main dam plates 141, 142 which are so located as to face each other in parallel to a rotary shaft; and a pair of side dam plates 143, 144 which are so located as to face each other in a direction orthogonal the rotary shaft and are brought into close contact with both end faces of the pair of main dam plates. At least one of the pair of side dam plates has covering faces 143F, 144F which continuously cover a side wall surface of a molten metal nozzle, which is defined by the end faces of the pair of main dam plates and end faces of the casting rolls, in a circumferential direction, and is rotatably provided in the state of being pressed onto the end faces of the pair of main dam plates and the end faces of the casting rolls.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
