In described examples, a microelectronic device (100) contains a magnetic sensor component (106) and magnetizable structural features (110). Magnetic moments (112) of the magnetizable structural features (110) are aligned parallel to each other. The microelectronic device (100) is formed by applying a magnetic field so as to align magnetic moments (112) of the magnetizable structural features (110) with the applied magnetic field. Application of the magnetic field is subsequently discontinued. The magnetic moments (112) of the magnetizable structural features (110) remain aligned parallel to each other after the applied magnetic field is discontinued.
