PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder, an image reading device and an image forming device, capable of both separating doubly-fed sheets and preventing contamination of sheets.;SOLUTION: A method of this invention urges a document being doubly fed, by means of rotating a handling roller 200 in the conveying direction till a first double-feed detection sensor 202, which detects a doubly-fed state of the documents in the downstream side of a pair of rollers for separating doubly-fed sheets in the conveying direction, detects the double-feed after the start of conveying the documents when delivering the documents from a document bundle placed on a document tray, by using the pair of rollers for separating doubly-fed sheets with a paper feeding roller 201 and the handling roller 200 kept in pressure-contact, the rollers being rotationally driven independently of each other; and thereby the image disturbance or off-set caused by slippage between the image surface and the paper feeding roller 201 is suppressed.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9;COPYRIGHT: (C)2019,JPO&INPIT
