The present invention relates to a method for covalently binding lignin to cellulose in an aqueous solution, the method comprising preparing an aqueous mixture of lignin particles modified with tall oil fatty acid (TOFA), and combining these TOFA-modified lignin particles. It is characterized by reacting with cellulose particles. The resulting modified cellulose particles are biodegradable and have antibacterial properties, so they are suitable for use as a porous carrier in antibacterial fiber surfaces (sportswear, medical fabrics), tissue adhesives and drug delivery ing. In addition, the material is useful for high volume products such as adhesives and dispersants.
