PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating mitochondrial membrane permeability, the method being able to evaluate the first stage of cell death.SOLUTION: The method for evaluating mitochondrial membrane permeability comprises the steps of adding an indicator of calcium ion (Ca) to a reaction liquid containing a cell to be examined in vitro, measuring a calcium ion amount using the indicator of calcium ion as an index, and comparing the measured calcium ion amount with a first reference value, wherein when the measured calcium ion amount exceeds the first reference value, it is evaluated that the mitochondrial membrane permeability of the cell to be examined has been promoted.SELECTED DRAWING: None
