PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: transition metal complex hydroxide particles which are high in particle diameter uniformity when being used as a precursor and allows a lithium transition metal complex oxide of a high specific surface area to be obtained because of its hollow structure; a manufacturing method of such transition metal complex hydroxide particles; and a positive electrode active material arranged by use of such transition metal complex hydroxide particles.SOLUTION: Transition metal complex hydroxide particles can make a precursor of a positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries. The transition metal complex hydroxide particles comprises secondary particles each including a center part composed of a polymer particle, and an outer shell part outside the center part, including transition metal complex oxide primary particles. In the transition metal complex hydroxide particles, the index [(d90-d10)/Average particle diameter] showing the spread of a particle size distribution is 0.60 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
