PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brick laying device for a blast furnace which allows a safety ceiling 6 to be installed at a low position and can shorten a construction period, and to provide a brick laying method.SOLUTION: A brick laying device 10 comprises a turning beam 32 which is mounted to a safety ceiling 6 installed in a furnace of a blast furnace 1, a swivel hoist 40 which is mounted to the turning beam 32, and a hoist 50 for unloading bricks which is mounted to the safety ceiling 6. The hoist 50 for unloading bricks is configured to hang a furnace bottom brick 8 supplied to a tap hole 5 provided between the safety ceiling 6 and a furnace bottom of the blast furnace 1 and unload the furnace bottom brick on a furnace bottom surface 7. The swivel hoist 40 is movable along the turning beam 32 and configured to move while hanging the furnace bottom brick 8 on the furnace bottom surface 7 and lay the furnace bottom brick 8 at a predetermined position on the furnace bottom surface 7.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
