PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding device of a contact-type length measuring unit, which can fix a length measuring unit without adversely affecting a bearing part of the length measuring unit.SOLUTION: A holding device includes: a cylindrical member 20 which contacts with one surface of a tabular holding member 7 for fixing a cylindrical length measuring unit, and which includes a cylindrical mounting part 22 having an inner diameter larger than an outer diameter of the length measuring unit; and ring-shaped elastic members 50, 51 provided between an inner surface of the mounding part 22 and an outer surface of the length measuring unit. The length measuring unit can be fixed without an unnecessary man-hour required of a user and a bad influence exerted on a bearing part of the length measuring unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
