PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measurement method that uses a non-prism total station capable of automatically measuring a preset measuring point, and a control device of the total station.SOLUTION: A measurement method using a total station comprises the steps of: measuring two reference points T1 and T2 set on a measurement object 2 in a first orthogonal coordinate system with an installation point TS of the total station as a point of origin; setting a second orthogonal coordinate system with the reference point T1 as a point of origin and a straight line passing through the reference points T1 and T2 as an X-axis; setting a design measuring point serving as a design-purpose measuring point of the measurement object 2 in the second orthogonal coordinate system; converting coordinate values of the design measuring point in the second orthogonal coordinate system into coordinate values in the first orthogonal coordinate system; and converting coordinate values of the design measuring point in the first orthogonal coordinate system into polar coordinate values in a polar coordinate system with the total station 1 as a point of origin to determine a control angle of the total station 1; and measuring a distance using the total station 1 set at the control angle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
