A method for the removal of a compound containing nitrous, tobacco product, smoke article, smoke filter, tobacco and kit is a molecularly unprinted polymer which is capable of adsorbing tobacco specific nitrosamines, said polymer being a a monomer having a polar and crosslinking functionality that is non-acidic, one of said monomers being hydrophilic, the other being hydrophobic. The polymer may be useful, for example, in the analysis and separation of nitrosamines from biological fluids and in the treatment and manufacture of tobacco products and tobacco materials. 1/1
