molecularly imprinted polymer, kit, methods for preparing a molecularly imprinted polymer, to determine if a tobacco product contains nitrosamines, to quantify the amount of nitrosamines in a tobacco product, to treat a tobacco product to reduce the level of a target component therein, and for manufacturing a tobacco material, smoking article, and smoke filter. The invention relates to a class of molecularly imprinted polymers that specifically recognizes and binds to nitrosamine members of which class they are useful, for example, in the analysis and separation of nitrosamines from biological fluids. Such molecularly imprinted polymers are also useful in methods of treating and manufacturing tobacco products and materials.
