Bovine mastitis is an inflammatory process of the mammary gland caused by contagious bacteria entering the udder, easily transmitted in herds and causing great damage to dairy farmers and dairy industries. The damage is mainly due to milk production, cost of discarding contaminated milk, premature death of animals and poor quality dairy products. The present invention is concerned with obtaining a filmogenic formulation with second skin forming properties and antimicrobial activity for the protection of dairy cattle. The developed formulation consists of a blend of polyvinyl alcohol (pva), arborescent polyglycerol (pgr) and natural elephant apple extract (dillenia indica). The filmogenic formulation of the present invention allows the formation of a second skin in the cow's udder with antimicrobial properties that fights bovine mastitis by providing quality milking as it is biocompatible and non-toxic to humans.
