Transparent silica gel / precipitated silica composite materials for dentifrice is a precipitated silica gel / silica composite for use in a dentifrice composition with a maximum light transmission of at least 25% within a refractive index of about 1.432 at about 1.455; a relative flavoring availability compared to silica sand of at least 50% and a ctab of less than 40 and that, when incorporated into a dentifrice composition in an amount of 20% by weight, said toothpaste acquires a rda (relative abrasion on dentin) of a maximum of 130; a pcr (film cleaning rate): rd ratio of 0.7 to 1.3 and a cloudiness after 24 hours of less than about 50%.
