Method for producing a transgenic plant with increased tolerance to heat stress in relation to a control of the wild type the invention refers to methods for producing a desired phenotype in a plant by manipulating the expression of the gene in the plant. The method refers to means to increase the level of expression of an expression or activity of bHLH gene of subgroup 1b, in which a desired phenotype,As an increased heat tolerance compared to a wild type control plant after heat stress results in reduced flower abortion and increased yield. Included are plants produced by the said methods.
