This document describes tetrahydropyrido [3,4-b] indol-1-yl compounds with modulating activity or estrogen receptor function, having a structure of formula Ia as well as their stereoisomers, tautomers or pharmaceutically acceptable salts, and with the substituents and structural features described in this document. Also described are pharmaceutical compositions and drugs that include compounds of formula I, as well as methods for using such estrogen receptor modulators separately and in combination with other therapeutic agents for treating diseases or conditions mediated or dependent on estrogen receptors.
