Specifically, the invention relates to a method for determining the therapeutic efficacy of a rapid-acting antidepressant, a real-time method of optimizing antidepressant treatment and a method of screening novel rapid-acting antidepressants and/or plasticity enhancers. Still, the present invention relates to a method of treating a subject with a rapid-acting antidepressant.
