The invention relates to a method for mounting a camshaft (2) in a bearing line of a cylinder head cover of an internal combustion engine, wherein at least the following steps are performed: mounting at least one sealing ring (1) in a groove (3) extending radially circumferentially on the outer diameter of the camshaft (2), wherein the sealing ring (1) is at least partly formed of an elastically deformable polymer, in particular a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), sliding a calibrating tool (4) having a rotationally symmetrical opening or sliding the camshaft (2) into a calibrating tool (4) having a rotationally symmetrical opening, the smallest inside diameter of which is greater than the outside diameter of the camshaft (2) in the region of the particular groove (3) and less than the outside diameter of the at least one sealing ring (1) slid onto the camshaft (2) in the region of the groove (3), in such a way that the at least one sealing ring (1) is pressed into the associated groove (3) and is frictionally and interlockingly held in the groove (3).
