A method of screening agonists and antagonists of the p75NTR signaling comprising the steps of: - Contacting human or animal plasmacyte dendritic cells (CDP), primary or in vitro generated, or CDP cell lines expressing the factor receptor of p75NTR nerve growth, with a test substance; - Incubate said CDP, or human or animal CDP cell lines that were contacted, for a period of time that is sufficient to effect p75NTR signaling; - Determine the effect of the test substance on human or animal CDP, primary or in vitro generated, or CDP cell lines; - Compare the effect of the test substance on human or animal CDP, primary or in vitro generated, or the CDP cell lines that were contacted, with control cells or cell lines; and - Select a test substance that agonizes or antagonizes the signaling of p75NTR in human or animal CDP, primary or generated in vitro, or in CDP cell lines.
