Rotor (1) of electromagnetic retarder for vehicles, the rotor comprising: - at least one armature (2) that is in the form of an annular disk, suitable for being traversed by Foucault currents by the effect of an electromagnetic field generated by a stator, the armature (2) having an inner face (4), - at least one cheek (5) that is in the form of an annular disc coaxial to the armature (2) and that has an inner face (7) facing front and distance from the inside face (4) of the armature (2), the cheek (5) being integral with the armature (2), - at least one crown (13) of coaxial fixation to the armature (2), suitable to be in solidarity with a transmission shaft of the vehicle, - at least one arm (15), defined between an upper edge (19) and a lower edge (20) and having a first end portion (22) integral with the face ( 7) inside the cheek (5) by the bottom edge (20), extending the first p extreme orifice (22) between the inner face (7) of the cheek (5) and the inner face (4) of the armature (2) and presenting a second end portion (23) integral with the fixing crown (13), the upper edge (19) of the arm (15) is at a distance from the inside face (4) of the armature (2) on the whole of the radial dimension of the arm (15), so that a space (24) is formed between the arm (15) and the armature (2), because the arm (15) presents, when viewed in a plane perpendicular to the axis (A) of rotation of the rotor (1), an inflection point (26), so that an S is formed, the rotor (1) being characterized in that the second end portion (23) of the arm (15) is a curved portion in a plane perpendicular to the axis (A) of rotation of the rotor (1), because the arm (15) comprises an intermediate portion (25) between the first end portion (22) and the second end portion (23), the intermediate portion (25) being a curved portion in a plane perpendicular to the axis (A) of rotation of the rotor (1), with a radius (R2) of inverted curvature with respect to the radius (R1) of curvature of the second end portion (23), and why the radii (R1, R2) of curvature of the second end portion (23) and the intermediate portion (25) of the arm (15) are chosen so as to satisfy the following relationship
