An object of the present invention is to provide magnesiumoxide that can be preferably used for pharmaceuticalapplications or as a food additive. In particular, the objectis to provide magnesium oxide granules with which tabletingproblems and quality defects can be reduced, and in moreparticular, to provide magnesium oxide granules with whichtableting problems and quality defects can be reduced and whichhas less heavy metal incorporation and high purity of magnesiumoxide. Provided are magnesium oxide granules forpharmaceutical applications or for addition to food having aBET specific surface area of 7 to 50 m2/g and CAA80/CAA40 of2 to 7.
