A method for procuring bids for a construction project from contractors for an owner, involves storing in a database project data including specifications prepared by an estimator and an estimated price determined by the estimator, storing contractor profile data in the database including names of the contractors and their qualifications, transmitting the project data in the database to contractor-operated computers via a communication network, receiving bids from the contractors for the construction project from the contractor-operated computers via the communication network, storing the bids in the database, and transmitting the bids and the contractor profile data in the database to the owner-operated computer via the communication network. A system includes a processor and a computer-readable medium storing instructions executable by the processor to implement the method.
