A method for predicting the risk of acute airways obstruction of apatient j with chronic respiratory disease, comprising the steps of:taking an already available averaged (population-based) risk curvethat quantifies the probability of having a future airways obstruction inat least future days; measuring the inspiratory resistance of onepatient j for at least a prefixed number of days; calculating theprobability of future acute airways obstruction of the patient j, adjustingthe already available averaged (population-based) risk curve with acoefficient k that take into account the inspiratory resistance of thepatient j.
