A method for identifying the quality of a tea. A specific tea is sifted out by detecting the content of epicatechin gallate (ECG) of the tea, the effects of water extracts in the specific tea on the increased expression of a phosphorylated protein pERK generated by an extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) in cells are detected, and accordingly, the effects are used as criteria for determining the quality of the tea having specific biological activities. The method is scientific and accurate and easy to operate, can be used for effectively identifying the quality of tea according to specific biological activities, and helps to standardize the tea quality management that uses specific biological activities as determining criteria in the tea market.
