A system and method for determining an indoor task target location by an image recognition mode. The system comprises: a memory database module (14), a camera (4), and an image processing module (15). The memory database module (14) pre-stores characterization-recognized indoor photos and metadata of the indoor photos, the metadata comprising location information. The camera (4) photographs a target place and transmits a photographed target place photo to the image processing module (15); the image processing module (15) preprocesses the target place photo to extract features, compares the extracted features with the content in the memory database module (14), and determines the location of the target place according to a matched indoor photo and metadata of the indoor photo.
