Provided are: a masterbatch containing a far-infrared absorbing component, with which it is possible to obtain far-infrared absorbing transparent resin moldings in a variety of shapes, having suitable visible light transmissivity and excellent far-infrared absorption, and with which it is further possible to obtain highly weather-resistant far-infrared absorbing transparent resin moldings; and a method for producing same. Provided is a masterbatch containing a far-infrared absorbing component, containing composite tungsten oxide microparticles and a thermoplastic resin, characterized in that the composite tungsten oxide microparticles have a hexagonal crystal structure represented by general formula MyWOz, if the value for XRD peak intensity of the (220) face of a silicon powder standard sample is set to 1, the value for the ratio of XRD peak top intensity is at least 0.13, and the thermoplastic resin is at least one resin selected from acrylic resin, polycarbonate resin, polyetherimide resin, polystyrene resin, polyether sulfone resin, fluorinated resin, polyolefin resin and polyester resin.
