This three-dimensional layering modeling apparatus selectively solidifies a powder bed, which is formed by spreading a powder over a base plate, by irradiating the powder bed with a beam. The shape or temperature of the powder bed surface or modeling surface is detected by a sensor, and, on the basis of the detection results, defects in the spreading of the powder or the beam irradiation are corrected before modeling of the next layer is completed.
